By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with them, please discontinue use of the website. These terms apply to the website only; a signed engagement letter or other written agreement will govern any legal services Meridian provides to a client.

1. About Meridian

Meridian Law Associates LLC is a Liberian law firm based in Monrovia and serving clients across Liberia and West Africa. The website is provided to explain the firm’s services, people, practice areas and points of contact.

2. Website information is not legal advice

The content of this website is provided for general information and may not address your particular facts, jurisdiction, timing or objectives. It is not legal advice, a legal opinion or a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer who has considered your circumstances. You should not act or refrain from acting on the basis of website content alone.

Laws, regulations, procedures and legal interpretations change. Although Meridian aims to publish useful and accurate information, we do not promise that every page is complete, current, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose.

3. No attorney-client relationship through the website

Using the website, completing a contact form, sending an email, making a telephone call or requesting a consultation does not create an attorney-client relationship, solicitor-client relationship, fiduciary relationship or other professional relationship between you and Meridian or any member of its team.

Meridian may need to complete a conflict check, confirm availability, agree the scope of work, establish fees and sign an engagement letter before accepting a matter. Until Meridian confirms acceptance in writing, do not treat any communication as legal advice or as confirmation that the firm is acting for you.

4. Please do not send confidential or time-critical information

Online forms and ordinary email may not be secure or confidential. Information sent to Meridian before an engagement is accepted may be disclosed to people within the firm for conflict checking and intake purposes and may not be protected by legal professional privilege. Do not send passwords, financial credentials, identity documents, highly sensitive personal information, original documents or urgent filing instructions through the website unless Meridian has specifically asked you to do so through an agreed channel.

If a deadline, limitation period, court date or other urgent event may affect your position, contact a qualified lawyer immediately. Sending a message does not mean that Meridian has received it, reviewed it or agreed to act.

5. Legal services are governed by separate agreements

If Meridian agrees to provide legal services, the scope, fees, responsibilities, confidentiality arrangements, communication methods, termination rights and other terms will be set out in a separate written engagement or other agreement. If these website terms conflict with a signed engagement, the signed engagement will control for that client and matter.

6. Acceptable use

You may use this website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of Meridian or another person. You must not:

  • Use the website to commit fraud, misrepresentation, harassment, intimidation or any other unlawful act.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its infrastructure, accounts, data or connected systems.
  • Introduce malware, malicious code or material that could disrupt, damage or impair the website or another person’s device.
  • Copy, scrape, reproduce, frame, republish, sell or commercially exploit substantial parts of the website without prior written permission.
  • Use Meridian’s name, logo, people, content or contact details to imply an endorsement, partnership or professional relationship that does not exist.

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the website, its design, branding, text, graphics, photographs, logos and other materials are owned by Meridian or used under licence. Meridian retains all rights not expressly granted in these terms. You may view, download or print reasonable extracts for personal, non-commercial and informational use, provided that you do not remove proprietary notices or alter the material.

8. Availability and external services

Meridian may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that the website will be free from viruses or harmful code, or that every defect will be corrected. The website may include links to third-party websites and services. Those links are provided for convenience and do not constitute an endorsement; Meridian is not responsible for third-party content, availability, security or terms.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Meridian provides this website and its content without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Meridian does not guarantee a particular legal, commercial, financial or litigation outcome and does not warrant that the website will meet your requirements.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meridian will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on general website content, interruption of access, transmission failure or a third-party service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information in connection with this website are described in our Privacy Policy. By using the website, you acknowledge that you have had an opportunity to read that policy. The confidentiality of a client matter remains subject to the applicable engagement and professional obligations.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

Unless a separate written engagement or a mandatory rule of law provides otherwise, these terms are intended to be governed by the applicable laws of the Republic of Liberia. Any dispute concerning these terms or your use of the website shall be submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction in Liberia.

12. Changes to these terms

Meridian may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The revised terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the website after the revised terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. General provisions

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any notices expressly incorporated by reference, describe the website-use relationship between you and Meridian.
